Backup4all is an award-winning backup program for Windows. Backup4all protects your valuable data from partial or total loss by automating backup tasks, password protecting and compressing it to save storage space. Using Backup4all you can backup to any local or network drive, backup to SFTP/FTP (with support for SSL encryption, proxy server, passive mode), backup to CD/DVD/Blu-ray, or other removable media (such as USB drives). Backup4all can backup open/locked files and it can perform full, differential, incremental and mirror backups. When defining a backup you can also set file filters and schedule the backup for automatic execution. Once a backup is performed, you can see what files have been changed since the last backup or you can read the statistics about the next backup execution. You can use the context menu from the tree to run standard actions associated with the file type. You can run predefined backups, such as My Documents, My Pictures or Outlook Express and load backup plugins.Backup4all has ZIP64 support (can create backups over 2 GB) and creates standard zip files, meaning that you can access it with any zip compatible utility. Backup4all also allows you to encrypt your backup using AES Encryption (128/192/256-bit). This backup program keeps track of file versions. You can easily restore any version of files or a whole folder. You can filter files to be restored. Backup4all tests the backup files automatically to ensure the backup is safe and correctly executed (uses CRC32). You can also enable email notifications to receive an email in case of success/error/warning. Backup4all works with any drive letter, including mapped network drives and UNC paths. It comes with its own built-in CD/DVD burning support. If you prefer, you can use UDF.

Do not trust for complete file structure restore. SummaryI used to love this software. Then I discovered it is NOT case-sensitive. When I restored from backup, it was close to useless. It works just fine when you have a file or three... but not if you want to recreate your entire folder hierarchy. Interactions with fileservers and version control systems have cared about case for ~20 years. It was a disaster. If it had just *failed*, that would've been better. Instead, it was misleading and earned false trust. It's sad that BU4A doesn't handle this.When I contacted BU4All customer support, they said "we have never claimed it is case sensitive," and told me that a case sensitive version would be available Dec 2012. Even worse, when tried to contact customer service/ tech support, got response of 2 lines with vague discriptions of how to connect via internet to their offices. NO PHONE NUMBERS WERE PROVIDED.
Since I am located in California, the only time to contact them was in the middle of the night my time, no other options for help were provided SummaryDo not go with this product. But when I lost my C drive due to the software locking up my system causing me to hard boot, I was scared that I might lose my computer and all my apps. I was lucky that I had the skills to open the case and reset Cmos. I was in contact with Softland and submitted a log file but when I was asked to run the software again to test their fix, I had already removed the program. No way was I going to test their software on my main computer and it crash and maybe burn! My system is a Dell XPS-running Vista 32Bit-and it's 1 year old. I do have another PC that I might try running the full version on. It's brand new and I have Win7 up and running on it. To sum it up, I think that folks need to really be careful with this program

It's a stellar interface, and does fast backups to stanard zip format. When it comes time to restore, it just works. You can even restore files without the software installed. This one is perhaps the best because of the number of USEFUL features and great support, very good online help.Few are the backup software with excellent restore features without which backups are useless. This is a shining example of exceptional restore features.Online help is excellent for two reasons. One, you find what you are looking for very easily and quickly. Two, it is explained with not too few and not too many words. Just what you want to know.Email support is outstanding. An example: I had two warnings in my last backup log indicating that two files enumerated during the start of the process had been deleted by the time the process got to actually backing them up. I emailed support and they pointed me to my anti-spyware software software (correctly) within minutes. Please note not only the speed of their response, but the fact that they figured it out even though it wasn't a Backup4All issue. I have used the software for many months and both it and email support have performed consistently in an outstanding manner.I know this review might sound too good to believe or may make you think I am affiliated with the company, but I am just a customer.The only bad thing is that a few concepts are difficult to understand and could be better documented (for example the use and number of catalog files).
