TreeSize Professional is a powerful and flexible hard disk space manager for Windows 2003/2008/XP/Vista/7. Find out which folders are the largest on your drives and recover megabytes on your disks. TreeSize Professional shows you the size, allocated and wasted space, the number of files, 3D charts, the last access date, the file owner and permissions, the NTFS compression rate and much more information for several folders or drives you choose. It also lets you search drives, entire servers or the entire network for old, big, temporary and duplicate files. The search results can be moved, deleted or exported. The application has an intuitive Explorer-like user interface, it is fast and multi-threaded and supports Unicode and scheduled scans. You can print detailed reports or export the collected data to Excel and to an HTML, XML or text file. TreeSize Professional can be started from the context menu of every folder or drive. What's new in this version: Version 6.0: faster scans with the technology of UltraSearch; now available as native 64 bit application; historic snapshots; dynamic view of HTML reports; e-mail reports via SMTP; File Search: custom search with regular expressions.

You would think that in a world where 3 and 4 terabyte drives are common (I have four on my home server) a utility like Treesize would be unnecessary, but it is amazing how much garbage we collect over time. This lets you find the trash, verify that it's trash and clean it up quickly. ConsI really don't consider the exclusion of the advanced capabilities of the paid version and "Con" in the free version, but for those of you who hate to pay for software, yeah, some of the really helpful stuff is only in the paid version. Skip and Rocket Fuel or two and spring for the paid version. SummaryThis is a great tool for finding out what you have that you don't need and finding space you do need where you need it. Ironically, the place it has really saved me effort is with the storage in my phone.
